The Good Samaritans behind Generation Grit

01 May 2019

Article featured SP’s Diploma in Computer Engineering graduate Lim Bo Zhi and how his secondary school counsellor Christina Tang-Lien supported him through his toughest times. Bo Zhi lost both parents when he was a teenager. After Bo Zhi's mother killed herself when he was just 14 years old, he shut himself from the world and hid in his room for the next two years. He lost all motivation to study, contemplated suicide and spent his days playing computer games. With the help of his school counsellor, Christina Tang-Lien, Bo Zhi managed to overcome his challenges and returned to studies. Just when his situation was improving, Bo Zhi lost his father and became homeless. Christina continued to support Bo Zhi and raised funds for his lodging and personal expenses. Today, Bo Zhi is a first-year computer science student at Nanyang Technological University, and is on a Defence Science and Technology Agency scholarship.
