The Industry & Innovation Showcase, during SP's Open House, held from 9 to 11 January, featured 27 student projects from various schools, divided into three categories: Digital Innovation, Sustainability Innovation, and Academic Innovation, demonstrating how emerging technologies provide creative solutions across diverse fields. One standout VR project by students from the School of Electrical & Electronic Engineering integrates gaming and therapy to help seniors improve motor and cognitive skills. In a hawker centre simulation, seniors can engage in interactive experiences like spreading kaya on bread or preparing Hainanese chicken rice, combining fun with practical rehabilitation. Additionally, SP’s School of Business announced that starting this academic year, the Business Essentials Through Action (BETA) programme will be open to all first-year business students. Initially piloted in 2020 for select students, BETA emphasises practical entrepreneurial skills such as resilience, adaptability, risk-taking, and opportunity recognition. Mr Lucas Tok, Acting Deputy Senior Director for SP’s Business & Creatives Cluster commented, “We believe business students need not only theoretical knowledge but also hands-on entrepreneurial skills to thrive in today’s dynamic environment.” Similar News reported in Lianhe Zaobao.
