Wind beneath his wings

13 Jun 2018

Editorial featured SP’s Diploma in Aerospace Electronics (DASE) student Joshua Leong. The 18-year-old shared that his first plane ride at the age of five sparked his interest in aviation. To fuel that interest, Joshua joined the Youth Flying Club (YFC) in secondary school as a co-curricular activity (CCA), and learnt the basic theory of flight and how to fly and build remote controlled planes. He also did flight simulation and even entered competitions for both radio-controlled airplanes and aviation simulation. Through his CCA and physics classes, he also realised that he prefers studying electronics over mechanics. Today, Joshua is on track to fulfil his dreams of becoming an aerospace engineer, after he applied and was accepted by SP via the Early Admissions Exercise (EAE) in 2016. He chose SP as it’s well-known for its engineering courses. Joshua also shared that his time at SP has helped him gain domain knowledge in the field, and that DASE is the perfect course for him to achieve his aspiration.
