Xing Kong Xia Xinyao Songwriting Competition kicks off, Winning piece to "Gratitude" to be presented at teachers' appreciation dinner

The 2025 Xing Kong Xia Xinyao Music Festival has officially begun, with this year’s songwriting theme set as “Gratitude.” Winning lyrics will be performed at the Teachers’ Appreciation Banquet organised by the Chinese Media Group. The Committee to Promote Chinese Language Learning, in collaboration with Lianhe Zaobao, TCR Music Station, and Jurong Pioneer Junior College, held a press conference on Friday, 14 March to launch the Xing Kong Xia 2024 student song compilation album. Last year’s champion song in the songwriting category, “Most Loved”, conveyed the power of love and gratitude through sincere lyrics and a warm melody. Seventeen-year-old Ma Zai Zhen from SP and Chen Yan’an from NYJC co-wrote the lyrics while studying at Nan Chiau High School. Both had taken music as a subject in secondary school, which sparked their interest in Xing Kong Xia.
