SP-Administered Bursaries/ Scholarships/ Grants

Donors-Sponsored Bursaries (Open from 13 Apr - 6 May 2020)

Application for AY2020/2021

Each year, hundreds of bursaries are given out through this scheme because of the generous donations of organizations and individuals. The values of the bursary awards are between $1,000 to $4,500 per academic year.

All Full-time diploma students who need financial assistance are encouraged to apply for this category of financial assistance first.

Selections are based on donors' criteria (which may include nationality, course, academic performance, financial circumstances, CCA, etc). Short-listed candidates may be contacted to attend interviews if required by the donor.

Important:
Students should make arrangements to pay for their school fees for the first semester while waiting for their application for financial assistance to be approved.

Application Procedures:

  • Apply online via e-Services/e-Resources (Finance Matters > Apply for FAS)
  • Prepare the supporting documents listed in the Application Form and Checklist
  • You may need:
    1. Income Declaration Form for family members who are self-employed or unemployed
    2. Interbank GIRO Form if you do not have a GIRO account registered with SP (This is to facilitate a cashless disbursement of bursaries)
  • Drop off your application form & supporting documents to:
    - Media Classroom T1635 (Block T16, level 3) from 13 Apr - 6 May, 8.30am to 5.30pm

Please ensure that your address in Student Portal is accurate

Applicants will be informed via iChat email by mid-June of the result of application.

For Singaporean students, once you put in the application for donors-sponsored bursaries, SP will also apply for either the Higher Education Community Bursary (Previously CDC/CCC Bursary) or the Higher Education Bursary (Previously MOE Bursary), depending on your family income. You do not need to apply again in the same academic year.

Note: Students should make arrangements to pay for their school fees for the first semester while waiting for their application for financial assistance to be approved.

Higher Education Community Bursary (Previously CDC/CCC Bursary)

Application for AY2020/2021

Apply for the Donors-Sponsored Bursaries from 13 April – 6 May 2020. SP will match your application with the bursary of highest possible value, depending on your family income.

Application Procedure

Successful applicants will be notified by the Community Centre (CC) nearest to your home regarding the collection of the bursary cheque.

Please ensure that your address in Student Portal is correct. (Applicants who wish to know the actual date of collection may check with the nearest CC)

Higher Education Bursary (Previously MOE Bursary)

Application for AY2020/2021

DFP Bursary for PFP students

KKH Bursary

Quantum of Bursary: $4500/ Academic Year

Bursary can be renewed over the 3 years in SP if recipient maintains good results and has no disciplinary record.

SPGG Education Fund Bursary

Application Period: 13 April till 6 May 2020

Quantum of Bursary: Up to $2000/ Academic Year

  • Full-time diploma student
  • In financial need
  • Required to attend a selection interview

GIC Sparks Study Grant (Closed)

Application Period: Till 3 May 2019

Quantum: $3,500 / Academic Year

Eligibility Criteria

  • Singaporeans
  • Full-time 2nd and 3rd year Diploma students
  • Gross monthly household per capita income (PCI)* of $2,475 and below
  • Actively involved in community service

Howe Yoon Chong PSA Scholarship 2020 (Closed)

Application Period: 1 December 2019 - 15 March 2020, 5pm

Shortlisted applicants will be notified via email in March and/or April 2020.

Sivadas-HEB Education Fund (Closed)

Application Deadline: 24 July 2019

The Sivadas-HEB Education Fund invites Hindu students from low-income families pursuing tertiary education to apply for financial assistance to help them meet the cost of their education. Students can apply for either a Tuition Subsidy or an Education Grant.

Tuition Subisdy: Up to 50% of yearly tuition fee

Education Grant: One time award, up to $1500

Eligibility Criteria

  • Singaporean or Singapore PR
  • Hindus
  • Full-time Diploma students
  • PCI must not exceed $1900
  • Not in receipt of any bursary

The Hokkien Yeo Sze Education Fund (Closed)

Quantum of Scholarship: up to $4000/ Academic Year

  • Teochew
  • Full-time Diploma students
  • Good character and conduct
  • Bursary applicant must pass each subject / module

Muslimin Trust Fund Association (MTFA) Bursary (Closed)

Application Period: 22 April - 1 May 2019

MTFA is an organisation that provides financial assistance to the needy and low-income families.

Eligibility Criteria

  • Muslim Singapore Citizen or Permanent Resident (PR)
  • Monthly household income of $4,000 and below
  • Applicants will be shortlisted based on their household capita income (PCI) and its should not exceed $350
  • Not applicable to students who are graduating in 2018
  • Applicants might be requested to attend an interview

Quantum of bursary to be determined on a case-by-case basis.

LBKM Bursary (Closed)

Application Period: Closed

Quantum: $800/ Academic Year

Eligibility Criteria

  • Singaporeans or either parent is a Singapore citizen
  • Full-time Diploma students
  • PCI less than $1800

South West Tertiary Grant (Closed)

Application Period: Closed

Quantum: $500/ Academic Year

Eligibility Criteria

  • Singapore citizen and resident of the South West District
  • Full-time student
  • Monthly household income of $3,000 or per capita income of $750 and below, whichever is lower; and
  • Deserving students who fall out of the eligibility criteria due to exceptional family circumstances (for example, those with family members who have high medical expenses), may be nominated, subject to CDC's approval for the Grant.

2. Financial Assistance for Notebook PC

Notebook Subsidy (Open from 13 Apr - 6 May 2020)

Application for AY2020/2021  

The one-time notebook subsidy is intended to help new students offset some of the cost of notebook purchase. 1st Year students who have bought a notebook PC in the year of enrolment may apply for this subsidy. PFP students may choose to apply for this subsidy either in their PFP year or 1st year in their diploma course. The award is given on a reimbursement basis.

Eligibility Criteria

  • Singaporeans
  • PFP / Full-time students in their 1st Year of study
  • Gross monthly household per capita income (PCI*) of $1,000 or below OR
    Gross monthly household income (GHI^) of $4,000 or below
  • Not received this subsidy before
  • Applied for a SP-Administered Bursary (Higher Education Community Bursary / Higher Education Bursary) this academic year

PFP students who meet the above criteria but not the DPF Bursary are also eligible for the Notebook Subsidy, and can apply FROM June 2020.

  2. The reimbursed funds will be credited into the registered GIRO account showed in the Student Portal, 2 to 3 months after the application closes

IMDA NEU PC Plus Programme

Application Period for AY2020/2021

Application opens from Monday, 13/04/2020 onwards, applicants may submit this together with the SP Donors-Sponsored Bursary application to Media Classroom T1635, during office hours.

Applicants who apply for this scheme after 6 May 2020 need to submit their documents to the relevant Lead Agency (see details on application form) on their own.

Eligibility Criteria

  • Singaporean / Singapore PR
  • Full-time Diploma student or has a permanent disability
  • Gross monthly household income must not exceed $3,400 or per capita income must not exceed $900 ($1,125 if there is a permanently disabled household member)
  • Past recipient of a PC-bundle under the NEU PC Plus programme may reapply only after a lapse of 3 years from the last deployment to the household

Important

  • Application to delivery could take up to 3 months
  • Payment to be made to vendor directly upon delivery

Please read the attached document before applying for the IMDA scheme (IMDA Notebook Computer SP Courses Comparability List).

Year 1 students who bought an IMDA funded notebook can apply for Notebook Subsidy if they are eligible (see information above).

IMDA Home Access Programme (Subsidised fibre broadband)

Home Access 3.0 from IMDA

The Home Access Programme provides eligible Singaporean families with 2 years of subsidised fibre broadband connectivity.

Eligibility Criteria

  • With at least one family member staying at the same residential address who is a Singapore Citizen
  • Stays in HDB flat
  • Gross monthly household income must not exceed $1,900 or per capita income must not exceed $650
  • Neither an existing Home Access beneficiary NOR an existing NEU PC Plus beneficiary with broadband connectivity

3. SP Needy Fund

SP Needy Fund

Full time students encountering acute financial hardship may apply for the SP Needy Fund.

Application Procedures:

  1. Download and complete the SP Needy Fund application form together with the documents required
  2. Make an appointment through e-Services / e-Resources to see the officer in-charge at the One Stop Centre (T16, level 1)
  3. Under the remarks, please indicate "SP Needy Fund application"
    (Counselling & Mentoring > Request for Counselling > choose 'Financial' under category)

Upon receiving your request, the officer in-charge will contact you to confirm the appointment date and time. Submit the completed application form and bring along all required documents for submission during the session.
