Application Procedure

Successful applicants will be notified by the Community Centre (CC) nearest to your home regarding the collection of the bursary cheque from January / February 2019.

Please ensure that your address in Student Portal is correct. (Applicants who wish to know the actual date of collection may check with the nearest CC).

 

Donors-Sponsored Bursaries (Closed)

Application Closed for AY2019/20

Each year, hundreds of merit awards and bursaries are given out through this scheme because of the generous donations of organizations and individuals. The values of the bursary awards are between $1,000 to $3,000 per academic year.

All Full-time diploma students who need financial assistance are encouraged to apply for this category of financial assistance first.

Selections are based on donors' criteria (which may include nationality, course, academic performance, financial circumstances, CCA, etc). Short-listed candidates may be contacted to attend interviews if required by the donor.

Important:
Students should make arrangements to pay for their school fees for the first semester while waiting for their application for financial assistance to be approved.

Application Procedures:

  • Apply online via e-Services/e-Resources (Financial Matters > Apply for FAS)
  • Prepare the supporting documents listed in the Application Form and Checklist
  • You may need:
    1. Income Declaration Form for family members who are self-employed or unemployed
    2. Interbank GIRO Form if you do not have a GIRO account registered with SP (This is to facilitate a cashless disbursement of bursaries)
  • Submit your application to:
    - Media Classroom T1521 (beside SPectrum, level 2) from 8 Apr - 3 May, 8.30am to 5.30pm

Please ensure that your address in Student Portal is accurate

Applicants will be informed via iChat email by mid-June of the result of application.

For Singaporean students, once you put in the application for donors-sponsored scholarship / bursary, SP will also apply for either the CDC/CCC-Polytechnic Bursary or the MOE Bursary, depending on your family income. You do not need to apply again in the same academic year.

External Bursaries

Ngee Ann Kongsi Bursary/ Scholarship (31 May - 14 June 2019)

Application Period: 31 May - 14 June 2019 

Quantum of Scholarship: up to $4000/ Academic Year

Quantum of Bursary: up to $2500/ Academic Year

Eligibility Criteria

  • Singaporeans or Singapore PRs
  • Teochew
  • Full-time Diploma students
  • Good character and conduct
  • Bursary applicant must pass each subject / module

Muslimin Trust Fund Association (MTFA) Bursary (Closed)

Application Period: 22 April - 1 May 2019

MTFA is an organisation that provides financial assistance to the needy and low-income families.

Eligibility Criteria

  • Muslim Singapore Citizen or Permanent Resident (PR)
  • Monthly household income of $4,000 and below
  • Applicants will be shortlisted based on their household capita income (PCI) and its should not exceed $350
  • Not applicable to students who are graduating in 2018
  • Applicants might be requested to attend an interview

Quantum of bursary to be determined on a case-by-case basis.

GIC Sparks Study Grant (Closed)

Quantum: $3,500 / Academic Year

Eligibility Criteria

  • Singaporeans
  • Full-time 2nd and 3rd year Diploma students
  • Gross monthly household per capita income (PCI)* of $2,475 and below
  • Actively involved in community service

KKH Bursary (Closed)

Application Period: Till 3 May 2019

Quantum of Bursary: $4500/ Academic Year

Bursary can be renewed over the 3 years in SP if recipient maintains good results and has no disciplinary record.

Eligibility Criteria

  • Malaysian citizen
  • Full-time 1st year diploma student
  • In financial need
  • Required to attend a selection interview

Howe Yoon Chong PSA Scholarship (Closed)

Sivadas-HEB Education Fund (Closed)

Application Deadline: 3 October 2018

The Sivadas-HEB Education Fund invites Hindu students from low-income families pursuing tertiary education to apply for financial assistance to help them meet the cost of their education. Students can apply for either a Tuition Subsidy or an Education Grant.

Tuition Subisdy: Up to 50% of yearly tuition fee

Education Grant: One time award, up to $1500

Eligibility Criteria

  • Singaporean or Singapore PR
  • Hindus
  • Full-time Diploma students
  • PCI must not exceed $1900
  • Not in receipt of any bursary

South West Tertiary Grant (Closed)

Application Period: Closed

Quantum: $500/ Academic Year

Eligibility Criteria

  • Singapore citizen and resident of the South West District
  • Full-time student
  • Monthly household income of $3,000 or per capita income of $750 and below, whichever is lower; and
  • Deserving students who fall out of the eligibility criteria due to exceptional family circumstances (for example, those with family members who have high medical expenses), may be nominated, subject to CDC's approval for the Grant.

2. Financial Assistance Schemes for Notebook PC

Notebook Subsidy (3 June - 16 August 2019)

Application for AY2019/20 : 3 June - 16 August 2019

The one-time notebook subsidy is intended to help new students offset some of the cost of notebook purchase. 1st Year students who have bought a notebook PC in the year of enrolment may apply for this subsidy. PFP students may choose to apply for this subsidy either in their PFP year or 1st year in their diploma course. The award is given on a reimbursement basis.

Eligibility Criteria

  • Singaporeans
  • PFP / Full-time students in their 1st Year of study
  • Gross monthly household per capita income (PCI*) of $1,000 or below OR
    Gross monthly household income (GHI^) of $4,000 or below
  • Not received this subsidy before
  • Applied for a SP-Administered Bursary (CDC/CCC-Bursary / MOE Bursary) this academic year

PFP students who meet the above criteria but not the DPF Bursary are also eligible for the Notebook Subsidy, and can apply FROM June

IMDA Neu PC Plus Programme

Application Period for AY2019/20

Application opens from Monday, 08/04/19 onward, applicants may submit this together with the SP Donors-Sponsored Bursary application to T1521, during office hours.

Applicants who apply for this scheme after 3 May 2019 need to submit their documents to the relevant Lead Agency (see details on application form) on their own.

Eligibility Criteria

  • Singaporean / Singapore PR
  • Full-time Diploma student or has a permanent disability
  • Gross monthly household income must not exceed $3,400 or per capita income must not exceed $900 ($1,125 if there is a permenantly disabled household member)
  • Past receipient of a PC-bundle under the NEU PC Plus programme may reapply only after a lapse of 3 years from the last deployment to the household

Important

  • Application to delivery could take up to 3 months
  • Payment to be made to vendor directly upon delivery

Please read the attached document before applying for the IMDA scheme (IMDA Notebook Computer SP Courses Comparability List).

Students who bought an IMDA funded notebook can apply for Notebook Subsidy if they are eligible (see information above).

3. SP Needy Fund

SP Needy Fund

Full time students encountering acute financial hardship may apply for the SP Needy Fund.

Application Procedures:

  1. Download and complete the SP Needy Fund application form together with the documents required
  2. Make an appointment through e-Services / e-Resources to see the officer in-charge at the Student Service Centre (T16, level 1)
  3. Under the remarks, please indicate "SP Needy Fund application"
    (Counselling & Mentoring > Request for Counselling > choose 'Financial' under category)

Upon receiving your request, the officer in-charge will contact you to confirm the appointment date and time. Submit the completed application form and bring along all required documents for submission during the session.
