Mr Yong Per Shian is currently working in PT Bank Negara Indonesia (Persero) TBK, Singapore Branch. He is the Head of Credit Risk Unit. He gave us a talk on ‘Credit’ and provided me with a good insight into the Indonesian Economy.
To most people, banks seem to be like big and stable organizations. Thriving despite the general volatility in the market. However, in reality, banks face everyday risks from loans to investments. A banker’s life can be stressful. Each step one takes, is a judgment to determine calculated risk.
In the Credit talk, Mr Yong also covered the bank’s frontline and backroom service areas. This gave me an idea of job scopes within the bank. In addition, I learnt about banking administration procedures. I find this very interesting. He also shared the fulfilling aspects of his job and how to succeed in the job. I enjoyed tremendously his sharing on his personal experience. After hearing from him, now I know better what to expect in the future. My choice of diploma in banking and finance does not limit me only to the finance industry. I walkaway from the talk more confident of my future prospects.
