  • The SP Business Admin Year 3 students on internship there shared on how they managed a store - from sourcing for materials overseas to using technology to track customers.

  • SP Tourism Year 1 students embarked on a learning journey to Singapore Changi Airport Terminal 3, to visit The Haven and SPell, Singapore Polytechnic’s very own student-run store.

The Haven, which is a gateway lounge by JetQuay, provides an array of facilities for guests in transit ranging from meeting rooms to nap rooms. The tour of The Haven was led by fellow SP Tourism Year 3 students on their internship whom shared with the Year 1s a number of interesting recounts they had encountered.

  • The excursion to the Parliament House allowed students to gain a better understanding of how the Legislature works, as well as learn about the history and origins of the Parliament. The excursion to the Parliament House was a great learning platform that allowed the students to understand the importance of the Parliament, and where important decisions are being made and issues involving Singapore's future are being discussed.

  • The Singapore Philatelic Museum which is the custodian and curator of Singapore's treasure of philatelic materials. The museum collections range from stamps and archival philatelic material of Singapore from the 1830s to present day, and stamps from member countries of the Universal Postal Union.

  • The Hospitality Mid-Management Internship Programme (HMMIP) provides a fast-tracked career path to selected SP Tourism students. Students were taken on a field trip to KidZania and the Singapore Philatelic Museum.

KidZania is a Mexican franchise developed by Xavier Lopez Ancona in 1999 which aimed at providing interactive learning and entertainment to children from 4 years to 17 years.

“The highlight of SP Tourism was the six-month internship at RWS as a front office agent and housekeeping room attendant. This positive experience helped to kick-start my full-time career at Hotel Michael as a Guest Relations Officer in 2014. SP Tourism has ignited my passion and nurtured me into a confident and outspoken professional with critical thinking skills which are essential to the hospitality industry.”
