Held on the 9 and 16 of July 2016 at Yio Chu Kang Community Centre, the 'Hooper Duper Great Workout' took exercise to a whole new dimension as 18 students from the Diploma in Nutrition, Health & Wellness (DNHW) incorporated the use of hula hoops into the usual mundane aerobics routine. Along with energetic pop music, adrenaline pumping moves and high spirits, the highly interactive and engaging event gave students a platform to apply what they have learnt in fitness and wellness modules onto enriching the participants physically and mentally. Students explained and demonstrated the different exercises to the participants. Each participant also received personal 1-on-1 assistance from the student volunteers to effectively cater to their dynamic needs in preventing injuries and ensuring safety for all. In addition, the student volunteers also honed their skills in social interaction and confidence in speaking to the participants. It has been a truly enriching and memorable experience and to contribute towards the positive ageing movement in Singapore through events like Hooper Duper Great Workout!
