Three zealous Year 3 students from the Diploma in Nutrition, Health & Wellness (DNHW) - Petrina Tang, Ng Ye Qin and Chee Jia Yi (from left to right), volunteered themselves for the third consecutive year for the World Osteoporosis Day held on 5 December 2015 at Thomson Community Club.
The event was graced by the presence of the Guest-of-Honour, Mr Chee Hong Tat, Minister of State from the Ministry of Communications and Information & Ministry of Health. During the 3-hour event, the residents were educated on the effects of calcium on bone health through simple board games. For example, residents would be asked to select the food or activity option that benefits bone health in the game “Which is Better?” in which Mr Chee also took part. The students adeptly engaged the residents in the activities which cemented the knowledge on bone health.
The three students have harvested much from their participation in event and most certainly looked forward to future opportunities.
"It was a wonderful experience to be able to participate in such an event as it gave me an opportunity to interact with new people and share what I've learnt in my course of study!"
"I appreciate the experience as it provided me the chance to educate the public on what I have learnt in school."
