The Singapore Polytechnic Convention Centre was bustling with excitement when 223 secondary school students island wide and 86 Diploma in Business Administration and Diploma in Business with Engineering 1st year students came together to participate in the 15th Young Entrepreneurship Challenge (YES) hosted by SP Business School on 4th and 5th June 2013.
The theme for this year’s challenge is Designing Business for Singapore’s future – Our Youth’s perspective. The keynote speaker this year was none other than our very own SP alumnus, Mr Gary Kwang. He is a successful entrepreneur and a Director of Infracomm Pte Ltd. He delivered a heart-warming and motivational speech, encouraging the students to believe in themselves and to make their dreams come true. In addition to trophies and plaques, participants strived to win a total of S$3,000 attractive cash prizes sponsored by Modern Montessori International. The thrill was extended to every participant with a grand finale party filled with hip entertainment and lots of chances to win up to S$2,000 worth of prizes sponsored by Best Denki.
The most important take away for the event was the many innovative ideas developed by the participants, which showcased out of the box concepts using business design thinking. The judges were totally impressed with the participants’ accomplishments within such a short time. The event ended in exuberance with the School of Science and Technology winning the overall Champion for YES 2013.
