She excels despite stomach illness
The New Paper, 17 Mar 2015 - Tan Sze Meng, a recipient of SP’s Model Student Award which recognises students for their holistic achievements, turned down a government scholarship from Malaysia in order to pursue a diploma in Engineering with Business in SP. However, she suffered from an intestinal problem which caused her to be hospitalised for eight months, with five of those months being bedridden in Malaysia. After undergoing four major operations, she returned to SP and has even involved herself in community service through her co-curricular activity, SP Red Cross Youth Chapter. She has a GPA of 3.988 and hopes to fulfil her childhood dream of being a teacher, and returning to SP as a lecturer.
