From Biomedical Science Diploma to Medicine at Cardiff University

Ernest Wong is the first SP Diploma in Biomedical Science graduate accepted into a medical programme in UK based on his diploma qualifications. A Class of 2010 graduate, Ernest has this to say of his time in SP.

“I loved my time at SP, it was some of the most creative and explorative periods of my life! SP has a diverse, vibrant atmosphere with allowances for whatever ‘deviant’ interests and ambitions you may have! I was in the SP cheerleading squad as well as the teams that ran projects in India, Cambodia and conducted free health screening in Singapore. More importantly, my time at SP allowed me to pursue my dream of becoming a doctor! The practical experience I received in conducting research and working directly with patients is proving to complement the more theoretical university-style perfectly!”

A Diploma With Merit graduate, Ernest also won the Olympus Singapore Silver Medal, Roche Diagnostics Asia Pacific Award, SPD A.C.E Scientific Award, and the Singapore Association for Medical Laboratory Sciences Prize at his graduation in 2010.

Our DBS alumnus, Ernest Wong, currently studying for his Medicine degree at Cardiff University, UK

Cardiff University, UK accepted Ernest into the MBBCh medicine programme based on his excellent academic achievements at Singapore Polytechnic and outstanding portfolio of activities and community service.

Incidentally Ernest Wong’s classmate at the polytechnic is Desmond Thiam Wei, the first SP graduate accepted into NUS’s Yong Loo Lin School of Medicine.
