The SkillsFuture Earn and Learn Programme is a work-study programme designed to give fresh full-time Diploma graduates from one of the 5 polytechnics in Singapore a head-start in careers related to their discipline of study. It provides them with more opportunities, after graduation, to build on the skills and knowledge they acquired in school, and better supports their transition into the workforce.
Who is it for?
The SkillsFuture Earn and Learn Programme is for Singaporeans and Singapore Permanent Residents who are Fresh full-time Diploma graduates from one of the five polytechnics in Singapore.
Working adults in the Power industry who wish to pick up specialised skills and knowledge in Power Engineering should consider our non-ELP courses like the Advanced Diploma in Power System Engineering or the Specialist Diploma In Energy Efficiency And Management
How does it work?
You will be matched with a job related to your discipline of study and undergo a 18 months structured training programme, depending on the sector and job requirements. The programme includes facilitated learning, on-the-job training and work-based projects, to allow you to deepen your skill sets at the workplace. Assigned mentors at the company will guide you and provide support in your continual skills development. You will also enjoy a well-structured career progression pathway, in line with the company’s talent development plan. At the end of the programme, you will receive an industry-recognised certification and potential wage progression or career advancement based on performance.
The Advanced Diploma in Power Engineering (NAPE) is an 18-month SkillsFuture Earn and Learn Programme where trainees go through classroom facilitation and On-the-Job Training (OJT) to deepen relevant occupational and industry knowledge and skills. Fresh polytechnic graduates from relevant courses will be employed by participating companies in the power industry as full-time employees while studying part-time through classroom facilitation in Singapore Polytechnic.
This course aims to deepen the existing knowledge and skills of fresh polytechnic graduates in the areas of:
- power system protection
- high voltage operation
- power transmission and distribution
- power system planning and control
- electricity overview, acts and regulations
Relevant technical skills are deepened through structured OJT aligned to the Singapore Workforce Development Agency (WDA) competency framework where trainees will be assigned to a mentor in the company to be trained in different areas. Trainees will gain knowledge and skills through a project which helps to enhance occupational and personal competencies for better career progression in the industry.
Fresh full-time polytechnic graduates from the relevant fields who wish to deepen their technical skills in the power industry via OJT at participating power related companies as full time employees in parallel with classroom learning and facilitation at Singapore Polytechnic.

Minimum Entry Requirements
a) The participant shall be a fresh full-time Diploma graduate of a relevant engineering diploma from one of the polytechnics in Singapore.
b) The participant shall be an employee of a power related company participating in the Earn and Learn Programme.
c) The participant shall be a Diploma graduate within 5 years of graduation or within 5 years from his last day of National Service (ORD).
Applicants must be Singaporeans or Permanent Residents of Singapore.

The curriculum is divided into three themes:
- High Voltage Operation and Protection
- Power System Planning, Transmission and Distribution
- Electricity Acts and Regulations and Project.
Trainees have to complete all 6 modules for 3 Post-Diploma Certificates (PDCs).

All participants are required to attend facilitated classroom training on weeknights from 6.30pm to 10.30pm.
Award / Certification / Accreditation
Upon completion of three Post-Diploma Certificates and fulfilment of the skills competency through OJT within an 18 months validity period, the participant will be conferred an Advanced Diploma in Power Engineering qualification from Singapore Polytechnic.

- The fees shown (inclusive of 7% GST) are indicative as they are based on prevailing funding policies and subject to review.
- Post Diploma Module Certificate fee is payable on a semester basis.
- Post Diploma course participants who submit the withdrawal notification 2 weeks before course commencement, an administrative fee of $50 (before GST) would be levied.
