DR LEE KIM KHENG

Profile summary:

KK Lee graduated from Nanyang Technological University (NTU) with Bachelor degree in Mechanical Engg (First Class Hon) in 1997, followed by obtaining his PhD in 2004. For more than 10 years, he worked in R&D department in MNC, supporting more than 50 consumer products using numerical tools while researching into advanced applied research.

Joined Singapore Polytechnic in 2010 as lecturer in School of Mechanical & Aeronautical Engineering, he was PI for several R&D projects focusing on rehabilitation projects. He was appointed as Centre Director for Advanced Manufacturing Centre in 2022 to support enterprises transform in i4.0 journey. He has successfully curated SP-Advanced Manufacturing Learning Journey to raise awareness to enterprises about Smart Industry Readiness Index (SIRI) and i4.0 solutions.

STEVEN TAN

Profile summary:

Steven Tan graduated from the National University of Singapore (NUS) with a Bachelor of Engineering (Mechanical) (Hons) degree and MSc in BioMedical Engineering from Nanyang Technological University (NTU).

Over the past 30 years, Steven has played a pivotal role in transforming manufacturing operations in the semi-conductor, consumer electronics, precision engineering and MedTech industry by providing comprehensive robotics and automation solutions.

He collaborates with industry partners to develop industry-relevant advanced manufacturing short courses for working adult and serves as the chief trainer at Bosch Rexroth Regional Training Centre (BRRTC).

Steven has been appointed to the AHK Board of Examiners for “Specialist Industry 4.0” training certified by Singaporean-German Chamber of Industry and Commerce. He is also trained in Smart Industry Readiness Index (SIRI) Assessment and holds an Advanced Certificate in Training and Assessment (ACTA) certified.

NG JUNE LI

Profile summary:

June Li started her career with retail entrepreneurship during her first year in National University of Singapore and pursued Learning and Talent Development in retail, hospitality and real estate for 15 years.

Effectively bilingual, June Li was involved in the planning and execution of Talent Management, Performance Management and Succession planning of human resource. She is also experienced in designing and customising training programme in response to the changing business landscape.

She is certified in Advanced Certificate in Learning and Performance (ACLP), Human Capital Diagnostic Tool (IHRP), Insights Discovery and a Lead Associate Consultant under SkillsFuture for Enterprise Programme (SFE). Most recently, she is also a pre-approved job redesign consultant under WSG PSG-JR.

She leads the Business Innovation Centre which helps companies to diagnose business capability gaps (process, skills and low-code technology), provides end-to-end solutions to innovate enterprise’s business with easy process automation and to develop human capital capabilities.

TANG KAH HEONG

Tang Kah Heong, an MBA holder from the University of Bradford and a B.Sc. (Physics) graduate from the National University of Singapore, possesses nearly 10 years of experience in operations management within the pharmaceutical and IT consulting sectors. As an IT consultant, he has successfully implemented enterprise resource planning (ERP) solutions across various functions such as accounting, purchasing, production, inventory, sales, and logistics for different organizations.

Kah Heong has over 22 years of teaching experience at Singapore Polytechnic and is currently leading the Robotic Process Automation (RPA) practice, offering training and consultancy services in business automation and process improvement.

His team has provided training and consultancy to numerous organizations, enabling them to automate and digitize HR, accounting, finance, operations, and corporate administrative processes.

In recognition of his efforts in preparing polytechnic students for the future of work, Mr. Tang received the Uipath Visionary Educator award in 2022.

DENNIS GOH

Dennis Goh is architectural trained in Singapore Polytechnic, Deakin University and Melbourne University. He worked in consultancy for seventeen years before becoming a lecturer in Singapore Polytechnic in 2006. He has been teaching for more than 15 years and is now teaching in Year Three in the Diploma of Architecture, he teaches modules in architectural design, building construction detailing and technical studies.

In 2018, Dennis originated the Digital Building Innovation Centre (DBIC), a centre which aims to raise smart innovation digital awareness and solutions with likeminded individuals and companies. DBIC capitalises on technology to help businesses transform collaboration, productivity, and innovation across various built environment disciplines (Integrated Digital Delivery IDD). It is SP’s main centre representing industry transformation map for the Built Environment Sector.

JUNEITA JUMAAT

Profile summary:

Juneita Juma’at has been teaching in Singapore Polytechnic’s Diploma in Architecture since year 2000. Architecturally trained in National University of Singapore and University of Tasmania, she started off in teaching architectural design, construction and environmental science, before embarking on Building Information Modelling (BIM) module to students since 2012.

Over the years, Juneita has mentored students in design competitions, like Autodesk Panorama and International Building Design Competition using various BIM software. Currently teaching in Year 2 and 3, she specialises in BIM modules and is a Certified Revit Professional. Upon obtaining the Specialist Diploma in BIM from BCA, she also teaches in the Specialist Diploma in BIM Management evening classes in SP. With the introduction of the Company Workforce Transformation, Juneita also assist companies to digitalise and be BIM ready.

Juneita joins the DBIC as an IDD (Integrated Digital Delivery) consultant. She helps craft the training program for BIM courses.

DR KATHIRESAN MANICKAM

Dr Kathiresan has more than 20 years of experience working in the healthcare and government sectors. He has authored and co-authored several peer reviewed journals and conference proceedings. Currently, he is leading the Industry Engagement portfolio at SP. Also, he is lecturing on Data Analytics, Business Statistics, and IT & Data Analysis for Business. His focus areas are Business Intelligence and Data Analytics, and he is the Course Chair for Data Analytics at Singapore Polytechnic.

He is a strong believer in data driven digital transformation (D3T) for SME’s in Singapore and has led several consultancy projects with the Data Science Analytics Centre at SP in D3T. One of his main achievements at SP is helping Fire Armour in their Company Workforce Transformation journey. Apart from industry projects, he has trained several companies in analytics and business intelligence as CET training.

Kok Seng leads in shaping and developing trainings for upskilling/reskilling of workforce as well as forging strategic partnership with industry partners, TACs & agencies in the areas of energy efficiency & environmental sustainability. He drives company & workforce transformation via project based training & consultancy projects to SMEs which include Business Need Analysis (BNA), Operation & Technology Roadmap (OTR), Training Need Analysis (TNA) & Job Reskilling Redesign (JRR). She is leading business development and industry outreach, including Company & Workforce Transformation (CWT) to help companies transform in a guided, structured & holistic way, covering areas such as business strategy, transformation road mapping, process redesign, technology adoption, job redesign & human capital management. She is a certified Lead Auditor in ISO 22000 & provides training & development of courseware in food safety with more than 50 food safety audits in food establishments. Soo Yin is a registered architect with the Board of Architects Singapore and member of the Singapore Institute of Architect. Swee Bing practiced in the architectural design industry for about ten years before joining Singapore Polytechnic (SP) to become a full-time lecturer in School of Architecture. Swee Bing completed a Business Design training programme by Designworks, University of Toronto in 2010 and became one of the earliest innovation champions in SP.

She is passionate in fostering a collaborative professional culture and plays a key role in delivering Human Centred Innovation Training Programmes and Consultancy Projects for a wide range of clients from different sectors.

Mr Tan Chee Seng, is the Centre Director for 5G & AIoT Centre in Singapore Polytechnic (SP). One of his key responsibilities is to drive both 5G and Artificial Intelligence of Things (AIoT) initiative development in SP.

He has experience in working with industry leaders like Robert Bosch and Contec, launching the SP Smart Connected Solution Laboratory that trains full time students, adult learners as well as organisations on cloud computing, IoT systems and applications. To date, he has conducted many short courses to organisations such as Nestle, MOE, ARTC, SMF, Rolls Royce, SP Power, Panasonic QA, ComfortDelGro and CapitaLand.

Chee Seng is also an accredited and qualified educator for Amazon Web Services (AWS). Before joining SP, Chee Seng worked at STMicroelectronics as a project manager and lead engineer. He has more than 10 years of experience in the field of Digital Video Broadcasting.

DR DAVID HEE

Dr. David Hee graduated with a PhD. in Electronics & Communication Engineering (University of Birmingham, U.K.). Upon his return to Singapore, he had worked at TL@NUS (defence-related low-frequency antennas and digital beamforming), ST Electronics (Defence wireless system and EMI/EMC), Thales Singapore (Defence R&T), Lite-On Singapore (5G automotive antenna systems and EMI/EMC model-based design) and is currently working as a Senior Lecturer in Singapore Polytechnic.

Dr. Hee works on technological development and initiatives in the areas of 5G, communications, IoT and Smart City Systems Design.

Dr Yin Xi Jiang is Senior Centre Director of Advanced Materials Technology Centre (AMTC) including Centre of Innovation for Built Environment Advanced Materials (COI BE-AM), a National level COI set up by 3 Polytechnics supported by ESG and BCA; NAMIC Hub@SP and Functional Ingredients group. Dr YIN is the joint management committee’s Chairman for COI BE-AM. Dr YIN was a senior research fellow in Singapore Institute of Standards and Industrial Research. Dr YIN obtained PhD in Materials from University of Birmingham (UK) in 1992 under the Prestigious Sino-British Friendship Scholarship Programme. AMTC obtained tens million $ funding from agencies & industry, and filed >60 technical innovations. Dr Yin received National Day Awards - Public Administration Medal, National Day Awards - Long Service Award, Merit Award from ESG. AMTC won IES Prestigious Engineering Achievement Awards (3 times), ASEAN Outstanding Engineering Achievement Award, MOE Innergy Award Gold and MOE Minister's Innovation Award.

DR LIM ZHENG BANG

Dr Lim Zheng Bang obtained PhD in Materials Engineering from Nanyang Technological University (NTU) in 2012. He joined as Manager under AMTC since 2012. He is also certified as Registered Management Consultant under Institute of Management Consultants (Singapore) since 2018. He secured more than 20 transnational R&D and industry innovation projects in green chemistry, solid waste management and sustainable built environment materials through various funding support and created more than 20 technology innovative solutions to the local companies, MNC as well as government agencies.

He received IES Prestigious Engineering Achievement Award 2022, ASEAN Outstanding Engineering Achievement Award 2022, MOE Innergy Awards-Gold (Academic) 2022 as well as MOE Minister's Innovation Award 2023. His current focus is on Centre of Innovation of Built Environment Advanced Materials (COI-BEAM) to capitalises on technologies to help businesses transform productivity and innovation across various built environment in terms of green construction chemistry and sustainable BE materials.

Dr. Su, with over 25 years of experience in powder metallurgy research, specializes in metal and ceramic powders. Notably, Dr. Su has expertise in the high-pressure inert gas atomization process of metal powder for industrial 3D printing. Currently, his research revolves around customizing metal powders for various metal additive manufacturing processes while tailoring material microstructures and properties to meet industry requirements for additive manufacturing applications. Previous projects involved a wide range of engineering alloys, as well as new materials such as metallic glass and high entropy alloys, utilized in industries such as construction, maritime, and oil and gas.

As the program director of the National Additive Manufacturing Innovation Cluster@Singapore Polytechnic, Dr. Su leads a multidisciplinary team from SP’s Innovation Centre for Additive Manufacturing. Their mission is to accelerate additive manufacturing innovations that yield high-value commercial outcomes and bridge the talent gap by nurturing a skilled additive manufacturing workforce.

Jessie has made significant contributions to research, education and industry collaborations. As Centre Director of CCTC, she plays a pivotal role in the establishment of the centre as a Centre Of Innovation supported by Enterprise Singapore. Her deep understanding of the industry and her strength in building teams has led to the centre's remarkable achievements including support for over 30 industry partners to overcome challenges to launch 'Made in Singapore' products.

Throughout her career, Jessie has actively promoted collaboration between academia and industry, bridging the gap between theoretical knowledge and practical applications. Her passion has led to the implementation of the first pre-employment training programme that incorporates a work-study pathway: Industry Now Curriculum (INC). She currently oversees five diploma programmes as the Deputy Director of the School of Chemical & Life Sciences.

Chris is the lead formulator for CCTC. He plays a crucial role in developing new and unique formulations that meet the evolving needs of the fast moving beauty and personal care sector. As a formulator, Chris brings a wealth of experience and expertise to his role. He has developed the 'Anhydrous Beauty' technology; an eco-friendly concept that removes water from cosmetic formulations. The waterless formulations especially the creation of a serum is a truly innovative product that the market has not seen.

In the past year alone, Chris has helped companies commercialise no less than 20 products. In addition to his technical skills, Chris leads a group of formulators and guide them to support companies to overcome formulation challenges and optimize product performance. He stays updated with the latest advancements in formulation technologies, ingredients, and manufacturing processes, enabling him to incorporate cutting-edge innovations into CCTC's work with local companies.

Mr. Daniel ZHANG is the Centre Director of the Centre of Excellence in Maritime Safety (CEMS) @Singapore Polytechnic. As an engineer by training, he is a strong advocate of technology adoptions to enhance efficiency and productivity. At CEMS, he is responsible for building a technology and innovation team to enhance the seafarer training assessment and delivery for the industry. Prior to joining CEMS, Daniel was with the Singapore Maritime Institute for 8 years, where he was responsible for charting the strategic directions and formulation of R&D initiatives to enhance the competitiveness of the maritime industry. Daniel has a Master of Engineering Degree (by research) in Electrical Engineering from the National University of Singapore.

Mr Vincent is an industry development and operations manager, bringing a wealth of experience and expertise to his role at the Centre of Excellence in Maritime Safety (CEMS) in Singapore Polytechnic. With a focus on industry outreach, he is responsible for building a national research ecosystem, collaborating with industry partners to study use cases and co-create solutions in the maritime domain. Prior to his current position, he worked at Hoya Surgical Optics, where he managed R&D operations, including budgeting and assisting with marketing and sales for new product introductions in the Asia Pacific region. With a degree in Bio-molecular and Chemical Engineering from the National University of Singapore, he began his career at the Agency for Science, Technology and Research (ASTAR) as a laboratory assistant before advancing to a project executive role. During his time at ASTAR, he expanded his skill set from technical to management, gaining experience in project and people management.

Evelyn Ong is the Centre Director of Food Innovation and Resources Centre (FIRC). She oversees the operations of the centre and establishes ecosystem partnerships to support food companies in innovation and growth.

With over 18 years of experience in the food industry and a strong food science background, Evelyn previously worked in R&D and quality assurance roles in food manufacturing and ingredient companies. Her technical skills include food product development, consumer insight gathering, food safety management systems, and training. Beyond FIRC, she actively participates in the Technical Committee in Food Products under Singapore Food Standards Council and Singapore Institute of Food Science & Technology (SIFST).

Chiew Teck currently manages the operation of the SFA-Licensed Pilot Plant and has championed the Operational Excellence in FIRC till 2019. With his team, he has transformed >90 local SMEs through practical, adoptable knowledge and technology transfers on product and/or process development, and shelf-life extension on food applications such as RTE meals, beverages, etc. since 2010. He is an CQI-IRCA certified ISO 22000:2018 FSMS Lead Auditor.

Before FIRC, he was with an FMCG manufacturer for nine years, where he held roles with increasing responsibilities in product development, QC, R&D, ISO 22000 certifications and implementations. He was involved in the setup of two entirely new manufacturing lines (24/7 operation), from sourcing, commissioning and operation of the machineries, setting up SOPs and eventually stepping up to become the Production Manager for the Dairy Aseptic Form-Fill-Seal Packaging Line. Chiew Teck attained his BS in Food Science (Summa cum Laude) from Cornell University (NY).

Terry Tan currently lead the Process Engineering Innovation Team. He oversees his team operation, staff development and establishes ecosystem networks to bridge together, domain experts from automated equipment, IT and the food science region, altogether to support our local food companies in creating innovation mind-set, increase in productivity and digitalisation implementation.

With BSc (Hons) EEE and years of industry experience in implementing various automation and digitalisation application, Terry has successfully developed a few First-In-The-World Food processing equipment for our Food industry. Tapping on his previous experience in R&D, production and data analysis roles in Harddisk, Solar, Automotive, consumer electronics, pharmaceutical and semi-con manufacturing, he has successfully developed turnkey food manufacturing production lines for our food companies too. His technical skills include Program management, providing automation and digitalising of food processes consultancy, EHEDG, CE, UL and OSHA for equipment design standards, product quality consistency, equipment safety systems, cost reduction and training.

Liangyu currently leads the Consumer Centric Innovation team, a team of talented professionals who are responsible for food innovation projects where consumer centricity is the focus. In addition, she leads the FIRC plant based food workgroup that builds the centre’s expertise in the plant based food field.

Having spent the last 17 years working in the food industry, particularly focusing on consumer and sensory science, Liangyu is well aware of what it means by being consumer centric and meeting the demands of the ever-changing consumer landscape. Throughout her career, Liangyu has specialized in understanding consumer preferences and translating them into tangible product improvements. Her expertise in sensory science has allowed her to create unique and delightful food consumption experiences that resonate with target audiences.

Liangyu holds an Executive Master of Business Administration Degree from Quantic School of Business and Technology.

Wenie is the Manager of Product Innovation Team in Food Innovation & Resource Centre (FIRC). She leads a team of food technologists specialized in bakery, noodle, ready-to-eat meal, ready-to-cook sauces and snacks application. Besides new product development, her team has also been assisting SMEs in improving product quality, extending shelf life and developing healthier product in the above applications.

Wenie holds her Bachelor of Applied Science in Food Science & Technology from National University of Singapore. She has over 15 years of experience in research and development within the food industry, focusing on ready-to-eat meal and ready-to-cook sauces. Besides, Wenie contributed to curriculum development of Food Safety Course Level 4 together with Singapore Food Agency. She is also an active member of multiple working groups convened by the Singapore Standards Council, contributing her expertise to the development and review of Singapore Standards related to food safety.

Profile summary:

Lim Keng Guan is the Manager, Packaging Innovation Team of Food Innovation and Resources Centre (FIRC). The team focus on packaging development and recommendation, so as to aid in shelf-life extension of the packaged food products. The team conduct real-time and accelerated shelf-life testing (ASLT), quality and functional tests for packaging materials, as well as courses/workshops for both the public and professionals.

Keng Guan has a Bachelor in Food Technology (Hons) from Massey University, and has experience in projects involving various disciplines in food such as formulation, process, shelf-life, analytical research, etc. Keng Guan also participates in trade associations and workgroups, covering Food Standards, Packaging and Agri-food.

Profile summary:

Jia Hui is the manager of the business development (BD) team who are the first point of contacts with the clients embarking on their innovation journey to identify and purse opportunities to drive growth. The BD team works closely with the stakeholders in the food industry including food manufacturers, food service providers, retailers, importers and distributors to understand their needs and provide advice on potential work with FIRC professional technical team. The team believes in creating trust and meaningful relationship with the clients as a key to success.

With over a decade of experience, Jia Hui and her team have developed a wealth of food science application knowledge across different sub-sectors - helping a wide spectrum of food companies from concept to commercialisation. She attained her BSc of Science in Food Technology and Nutrition from RMIT, Australia and is a Singapore registered management consultant (RMC).

Ms Jessy Yau is the Deputy Director of the Professional & Adult Continuing Education (PACE) Academy in Singapore Polytechnic. She is also the Centre Director of the Centre of Excellence for Workplace Learning (NACE) in Singapore Polytechnic.

She leads the NACE team to drive workplace learning initiatives for enterprises, which include designing training and workplace learning solutions, conducting skills gaps and training need analysis, developing and implementing On-the-Job Training (OJT) blueprint, designing mentoring and coaching programmes and designing performance support structures to improve job performance.

In addition, she currently provides strategic planning and oversees the Outreach & Development division within PACE, comprising of business development, marketing and curriculum quality & innovation functions. She leads a team of highly motivated staff to engage and collaborate with internal and external stakeholders.

KAVINDRAN MOHAN

Kavindran Mohan is an Account Manager in the Outreach and Development Division at Singapore Polytechnic (SP) Professional & Adult Continuing Education (PACE) Academy. He is passionate about Workforce Transformation and helping organisations stay relevant through Workplace Learning, He supports Workplace Learning Initiatives via NACE@SP to be implemented to Small and Medium Enterprises (SMEs), Non-SME organisations, Trade Unions Associations and Government Agencies.

Ricky, an experienced Workplace Learning Specialist, works at Singapore Polytechnic (SP) Professional & Adult Continuing Education (PACE) Academy. He assist companies in strengthening their workplace learning capabilities, designing effective learning solutions, and establishing training systems. Ricky has successfully completed and led multiple workplaces learning consultancy projects across diverse industries, including Aviation, Automation, and Manufacturing.

From 2008 to 2016, Ricky operated his own reliability consultancy services. He also dedicated 9 years to teaching at various Institutions of Higher Learning. Presently, Ricky continues to contribute his expertise by conducting training under NACE@SP, focusing on Workplace Learning Blueprint Development.

Ricky possesses notable certifications and qualifications, including being a certified Reliability Engineer. He has also obtained an Advanced Certificate in Training and Assessment (ACTA) and a Diploma in Adult and Continuing Education (DACE). Ricky holds dual master's degrees in Maintenance and Reliability Engineering, as well as Education (Mathematics).
