The National Senior Academy found that courses related to the digital field are the first choice for seniors aged 50 and above to improve their skills. About 200,000 seniors took such courses last year, double the number in 2020. Melvin Ng (Huang Peiqiu), a 69-year-old freelance motion graphics design worker who once worked as a senior art manager in a publishing house, said he sometimes felt bored after retirement, so he decided to enrol in a course at the SP to learn motion graphics design. Melvin said: "When I was working before, I wanted to make some images more vivid and interesting, but I found it very difficult without professional knowledge." The new courses launched by SP have attracted more than 1,000 seniors aged 55 and above to sign up in the past six months.
