Facts about cultured meat

The Fatwa Committee recently ruled that it is halal to eat cultured meat produced using cells taken from animals that are halal or permitted in Islam. Cultured meat refers to meat produced using cell growth techniques, either through tissue growth or stem cells taken from animals. Laboratory-produced chicken meat or cultured chicken meat began to sell in Singapore after food technology startup Eat Just was approved four years ago. The cultured chicken is produced at the Food Innovation and Resource Centre, a food research facility jointly run by SP and Enterprise Singapore.
