SILMO Singapore 2024

SILMO Singapore, a joint event between SILMO International and MP Singapore, is a leading optical and eyewear fair in Singapore. Our team of five faculty staff and nine students had the opportunity to attend SILMO Singapore on 26 Apr 2024.

During this learning journey, we gained insights into how technology has evolved in lens edging procedures. We had the privilege of hearing from industry leaders and the presidents of the Society of Opticianry Practitioners and the Singapore Optometric Association, who shared their perspectives on navigating the competitive landscape of the optical industry.

One of the highlights of our visit was attending a lecture by Fiona Anderson, the Immediate Past President of the International Opticians Association, on Paediatric Dispensing. This experience provided us with a deeper understanding of the challenges and clinical pearls in providing eyewear for young children.

Our experience at SILMO Singapore was both enlightening and inspiring. It gave us a glimpse into the future of the optical industry and showed us the potential of what we can achieve when we embrace innovation and collaboration.
