Prof Sibrandes Poppema is the President of Sunway University since January 2021. He studied Medicine and Pathology, obtained a doctorate in Immunopathology from the University of Groningen and was a postdoc at Harvard University. He is among the top 2% cited authors in immunology, and had held leadership positions in healthcare and education as Director of Laboratory Medicine and Pathology at the Cross Cancer Institute in Edmonton and the University Medical Center in Groningen. He was Dean of the Medical School UMCG for nine years and President of the University of Groningen for ten years.
