2017 World Solar Car Challenge

The latest addition to the SunSPEC family is the evolutionary SunSPEC 5 taking on WSC2017! The only solar car team representing Singapore in this premier international competition, SunSPEC 5 accomplished the engineering feat of covering an amazing distance of 3000km with just solar energy!


MAE Students Win at Amazing Science-X Challenge (ASXC) 2016

MAE students from DME (Diploma in Mechanical Engineering) won two awards in the recent Amazing Science-X Challenge 2016 (ASXC 2016). The ASXC is an annual nationwide competition organised by DSO National Laboratories (DSO), National University of Singapore (NUS) and Science Centre Singapore (SCS). It challenges teams to design and build a stand-alone exhibit that best explains a physical science phenomenon.
Our two groups of DME students, Team ACE and Team Augmented Piguet, won the Bronze and the Merit award respectively. Team ACE is led by Mr Thomas Cheung, while Team Augmented Piguet is led by Mr Alvin Tay.

MAE Students Win at WorldSkills Singapore 2016

MAE Students Win at SIE Challenge Award

Four MAE students under the Facilities Option won the top prize of $1,000 at the SIE Challenge Award. They received their prize during Singapore Polytechnic Engineering Show Partners’ Networking Evening held on 21 January 2016.

The members, Muhd Nizar, Mohd Azali, Lutfi Haiqal and Mohd Yazid, worked on their final-year project that involved the design and fabrication of a motorised transporter for a patient at the Cheshire Home.

2015 World Solar Car Challenge

Building upon the experience and knowledge gained from the previous races, Singapore Polytechnic ups the ante and returned to WSC with a Cruiser class vehicle in 2015. We are the first and only institute in Singapore to build a 2-seater solar vehicle!

2013 World Solar Car Challenge

Singapore Polytechnic's first successful foray into the biennial World Solar Car Challenge (WSC) held in Australia under the Challenger class.

2012 Shell Eco Marathon

This is the first time Singapore Polytechnic participated in Shell Eco Marathon, and won the Gold award in the Solar Category.
