Cleaning and inspection of cargo holds are important tasks for a Bulk Carrier. The current method of using scaffolding to reach the higher areas of the cargo hold are dangerous as there is a risk of falling. The project uses a means of access that
hangs off the side of a cargo hold opening with a trolley-like channel and a ladder leading to a platform to support the personnel. This method deployed on top of the cargo hold is a much safer option, with improved thoroughness of inspection
and cleaning.
