Lifelong learning adds emphasis to employees’ improvement and competitiveness without worries

NP alumnus Liu Rongze, an investment manager at a multinational corporation, has achieved significant career success but is not content to rest on his laurels. In April next year, he will enrol in the Specialist Diploma in Professional Accounting & Technology at SP. This one-year part-time course combines in-person and online lessons. Liu had already been interested in this programme, and the government’s additional $4,000 SkillsFuture training subsidy, introduced this year, came at the perfect time. With the subsidy, he will only need to pay a few hundred dollars for the course. This subsidy is part of the government’s SkillsFuture Level-Up Programme, launched in March this year. From May onwards, Singaporean citizens aged 40 and above are eligible for an additional $4,000 SkillsFuture training subsidy, applicable to approximately 7,000 courses. To better support mid-career individuals, starting next academic year, citizens aged 40 and above who enrol in another full-time diploma programme at ITE, polytechnics, or arts institutions can benefit from the Mid-Career Enhanced Subsidy, which covers up to 90% of tuition fees. However, those who previously received subsidies for a specialist diploma programme will no longer be eligible for additional funding for another specialist diploma.
