Starting in January 2026, all NP students will learn how to use Gen AI as part of their course of study, with the aim of preparing them for workplaces where AI is increasingly important. Rather than offering AI as a separate subject, NP will embed generative AI across the curriculum so that every student, no matter their diploma, will engage with AI at least once each year through a structured approach called the PAIR framework — Problem, AI, Interaction and Reflection. This method guides students to define problems clearly, choose suitable AI tools, apply them hands‑on, and reflect on how the technology affects their thinking and decisions. Ethical use of AI, such as checking accuracy and understanding limitations, is also emphasised so that students can use AI to support, not replace, human judgment and creativity in their future careers. NP’s Principal & CEO Mr Lim Kok Kiang said the polytechnic has been building its AI capabilities since 2022, starting with a Gen AI hub and AI-focused tracks in its information technology courses. SP equips all students with basic AI literacy through a common core curriculum. NYP has embedded baseline Gen AI training into all diploma programmes since October 2025. At RP, Gen AI is embedded across all diploma courses, with students introduced to AI fundamentals and critical thinking, and AI tools used in discipline-specific ways. TP launched an experimental design studio in January 2024, giving design students a space to learn and experiment with Gen AI. Similar news reported in Tamil Murasu and Berita Harian.
