Putting staff welfare first

At SP, staff from all departments and schools come together annually for the Fruits Party, an event filled with durians, tropical fruits, games, and bonding opportunities. Now in its third year, the event is a highlight for many, including Madam Siti Fadilla from SP’s PACE Academy, who appreciates the chance to connect with colleagues outside of work. This tradition is part of SP’s broader efforts to foster camaraderie and well-being among all staff. SP, ranked 19th for Singapore’s Best Employers 2025 by The Straits Times and Statista, also offers regular wellness talks and lunchtime classes like yoga and Zumba, organised by the SP Well-being Committee. SP further invests in staff development through training, job rotations, and secondments. Strong leadership supports these initiatives, with senior management setting the tone—such as Dr Tan Tuan Lin, Senior Director for Computing, Chemical and Life Sciences, who avoids emailing on weekends and founded one of 22 staff-led interest groups, promoting work-life balance and staff engagement across the polytechnic. The ranking table can be found on The Straits Times.
