Course Objective

This course is about prioritising tasks, managing high workload, and manage available resources (bridge teams, engine control teams, shore side emergency responses, external resources such as tugs, etc.) in abnormal and emergency situations. All participating Masters and Officers, as a result, will be trained in Human Element Leadership and Management education, at Management-Level. They will, overall, meet Knowledge, Understanding, and Proficiency (KUP) requirements set in the following:

Table A-II/2 (Masters and Chief Mates on 500 gross tonnage or more)

Function: Controlling operation of the ship, and care for persons on board, at Management-Level
Competence Use of leadership and management skills.

Function: Navigation at the Management-Level Competence Respond to navigational emergencies
Providing bridge procedural training (applying Company Bridge Procedures in Abnormal and Emergency Situations is another aim for participants to apply KUP in a contextual environment.
