The Changi East Business and Leisure District, adjacent to Terminal 5, is planned as a mixed-use development featuring offices, hotels, smart workspaces, and commercial residences, with potential for sea-air transport links due to its proximity to Tanah Merah Ferry Terminal. A year-long multidisciplinary study has been commissioned to assess tourism trends, transport planning, and commercial feasibility, guiding the district’s concept plan. Mr Kim Nam Chow, Deputy Director, School of Architecture & the Built Environment at SP, believes the district could evolve into an aviation city and a testbed for futuristic urban planning. Huang Tianfu, Senior Lecturer in Hospitality and Tourism Management at NYP, envisions the area as a high-end hospitality hub supporting MICE events and brand experiences, while Benjamin Cassim from TP’s School of Business sees it as an integrated development distinct from Jewel, offering diverse business and leisure services.
