On 14 November 2025, four students from the Diploma in Biomedical Science (DBS) course participated in the National Mentoring Youth Summit 2025. They engaged in meaningful conversations with life science professionals who shared honest stories of growth, challenges, and bold career pivots. These authentic interactions gave our students a deeper understanding of the evolving landscape of life sciences and the courage needed to navigate it.

Dylan shared that the summit opened his eyes to the wide and evolving possibilities within life sciences, including areas like biobusiness he had never considered before. The experience reminded him that curiosity, adaptability, and exploration are essential parts of his growth journey.
Xu Yue found the summit eye-opening, especially hearing how mentors shifted careers when their initial roles didn’t align with their aspirations. He learned that taking risks while young helps in discovering the right path and that staying stagnant, though comfortable, may not lead to growth.
Kayson was inspired by mentors who took bold risks to pursue what truly mattered to them, including one who left a pharmaceutical path to discover her passion in teaching. He realised that taking risks is sometimes necessary to uncover one’s true calling.
Hilda learned that career paths are rarely linear, as mentors openly shared how they explored, pivoted, and tried different roles before finding their fit. This reassured her that it’s okay not to have everything figured out yet, and that growth comes from being willing to try, fail, and redirect.
