COU Bites™ — a cocoa-free chocolate

Meet our Diploma in Food Science & Technology (DFST) students (Megane Chua Jia En, Javier Li Jun Rui, Lim Pei Xuan and Muhammad Danial Asry Bin Mohammed Isa) behind COU Bites™ — a cocoa-free chocolate alternative made from upcycled okara! 

Inspired by the environmental challenges of traditional cocoa and the wasted potential of okara, the team set out to create a sustainable, flavourful and affordable chocolate alternative.

From a classroom idea to a commercialised prototype, this project shows how innovation and purpose can turn waste streams into something extraordinary!
