9 in 10 polytechnic graduates found work within 6 months of completing school or NS in 2025

The 2025 Polytechnic Graduate Employment Survey revealed that 90% of polytechnic graduates in the labour force secured employment within six months of completing school or National Service, a slight decline from 90.4% in 2024 and 95.8% in 2023. Among those employed, 54.2% held full-time permanent jobs, 28.2% were in part-time or temporary roles, and 4.8% worked as freelancers. Additionally, 2.3% had accepted offers but were starting later, while 0.6% were taking steps to start their own business. Of the 10% unemployed, most had applied but not received offers, while small portions had rejected offers or were not seeking work. NP’s Principal & CEO Mr Lim Kok Kiang said polytechnic graduates have continued to demonstrate resilience, securing opportunities in growth sectors including finance, healthcare and social services amid economic uncertainty. The survey, which drew on data from graduates in the labour force (43.9% of the cohort), was jointly conducted by NYP, NP, RP, SP, and TP. The Straits Times featured Ms Karen Lim, strategic partnership manager at employment agency RecruitHaus, who said that job market conditions for fresh graduates have shifted in recent years, reflecting a broader move in hiring solely based on qualifications to skills.
