SP Open House 2026 puts hands-on learning and entrepreneurship centre stage

SP’s Open House 2026 is being presented as its most interactive and future‑focused edition yet, shifting away from static displays toward immersive, hands‑on experiences that reflect real‑world industry challenges, and the skills students will need in the future. At the SP Industry & Innovation Showcase, prospective students can dive into Try‑a‑Skill booths where they actively build and experiment—such as tackling a “Stick ’Em Challenge” that combines 3D‑printed parts, motors and wireless controls to create dynamic structures, emphasising both technical problem‑solving and business thinking. The showcase also features a wide array of student‑led projects, from a non‑steroidal eczema cream to a multiplayer cultural VR horror escape room, demonstrating SP’s commitment to applied learning and creative innovation. Beyond the exhibits, curriculum updates underline SP’s evolving focus on industry relevance, data literacy and human‑centred skills, from strengthening teamwork assessment frameworks to expanding data and AI offerings under its newly renamed School of Mathematical Sciences and Analytics. The event also highlights record levels of student entrepreneurship, with around 60 student‑run businesses showcased through the Business Essentials Through Action (BETA) programme and deeper support from the SPiNOFF Entrepreneurship Centre, giving visitors insight into how early ideas are nurtured into real ventures.
