The Singapore Polytechnic (SP) School of Business (SB) is pleased to introduce the SCTP in Sustainability Practices and Reporting. This programme is catered for participants who are looking to enter or cross industries into the field of sustainability. This is to facilitate participants who are looking for mid-career switches into sustainability by furthering their education.  

The programme consists of four (4) certificates to be conducted within three (3) months. Classes will be conducted in part-time mode (Evening).  

Programme certificates breakdown are as follows: 

1. Certificate in Corporate Sustainability Reporting and Carbon Management 

This certificate covers the principles and practices of sustainable reporting, including stakeholder engagement and materiality assessment. It also introduces what are Greenhouse Gases (GHG) and gain awareness of the calculation methodologies on GHG emissions.  

2. Certificate in Sustainable Supply Chain and the Circular Economy  

This module examines sustainable supply chain management, focusing on integrating sustainability principles throughout the supply chain. Participants will gain insights into the importance of sustainable practices, risk assessment, performance measurement, and strategies for improving sustainability in procurement, logistics, warehousing, and supplier management. The module will also examine the Circular Economy principle, business value and opportunities through Circular Economy, strategies to overcome barriers and challenges, and case studies showcasing circular practices in action. 

3. Certificate in Sustainable HR Management Practices 

This module seeks to enhance both HR and non- HR Professionals’ knowledge and skills in integrating sustainability principles into human resource management. It provides participants with an understanding of sustainability concepts, their relevance to HR practices, and strategies for driving sustainability-focused initiatives within organizations.  Participants will learn about the importance of developing a sustainable mindset and behaviour to promote sustainability. The curriculum delves into key areas of sustainable HRM, including recruitment and selection, performance management, employee engagement, leadership development, ethics and communication for effective delivery. Participants will gain insights into how HR practices can contribute to sustainable business outcomes, enhance employee satisfaction, and foster a culture of sustainability within organizations. Upon successful completion of the module, participants will be equipped to integrate sustainability principles into HR practices effectively.   

4. Certificate in Technology for Sustainability 

This certificate aims to equip participants with the technological skills such as Robotic Process Automation and Analytics to automate data collation and analyse data for sustainability reporting without coding or programming knowledge. 

Course Objective

​​The course aims to provide an overview of corporate sustainability and environmental, social and governance (ESG) issues and explain the significance of sustainability in the various parts of the business value chain, including procurement, human resources and accounting. In addition, participants will be equipped with the automation and analytics skills that will provide them with opportunity to deliver higher value to the business.​ 

Course Outline

By the end of the Course, participants will be able to:  

- Provide an overview of corporate sustainability and ESG issues, and explain the significance of sustainability for society, organizations, and finance professionals. 

- Explain the UN SDGs (United Nations Sustainable Development Goals) and their importance for organizations in terms of risks and opportunities. 

- Define climate change risks and their financial implications. 

- Explain the different types of greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions.  

- Compute the greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions for a business. 

- Evaluate sustainability-related risks in a company's supply chain. 

- Create a sustainable supply chain management plan. 

- Explain the principles of a resource-efficient circular economy. 

- Apply relevant circular economy strategies. 

- Implement sustainable human resource management practices, including effective employee engagement, diversity and inclusion, and sustainable leadership  

- Explain the components of a sustainability report. 

- Create a comprehensive report with meaningful disclosures. 

- Apply technological skills such as Robotic Process Automation and data analytics to automate data collation and analyse data for sustainability reporting without coding or programming knowledge.  

Minimum Requirements

Recognised diploma from recognised IHL or at least 1 year of working experience, subject to interview and/or entrance test. SP reserves the right to shortlist and admit applicants.

Certificate of Completion (electronic Certificate will be issued)
A Certificate of Completion will be awarded to participants who pass the assessment and meet at least 75% attendance rate

As per SSG’s policy, the GST payable for all funding-eligible applicants is calculated based on prevailing GST rate after baseline funding subsidy of 70% 

Singaporeans aged 25 years and above may use **SkillsFuture Credit balance to offset respective course fees.
