Singapore Polytechnic (SP) is appointed by SkillsFuture Singapore (SSG) to be the lead Institute of Higher Learning (IHL) for Advanced Manufacturing SkillsFuture Series, with its intent to upskill the workforce in emerging areas. Co-developed with TUV SUD and in partnership with solution providers, this advanced manufacturing learning journey will have 3 distinct zones (i.e., Digitalisation, Integrated, and Smart) to support all small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) at different stage of i4.0 transformation. Participants will have experiential experiences in these 3 zones to know more about the i4.0 technology and process, and how Singapore Industry Readiness Index (SIRI) can be used as a tool to transform into i4.0.
Zone 1: The Digitalisation Zone
This zone depicts an enterprise which is keen to digitise their manual processes, and extract valuable information by connecting machines and equipment that are conventionally unconnected at the shop floor.
Zone 2: The Integrated Zone
This zone depicts an enterprise where the digitalised processes and systems are integrated across the value chain, 5-layer automation pyramid and product life-cycle through the use of technologies. Three robotic cells are powered by autonomous mobile robot (AMR) to make the line “integrated”.
Zone 3: The Smart Zone
This zone depicts an enterprise where the digitalised processes and systems are securely integrated across all vertical hierarchical levels through the use of technologies. Flexibility, real-time communication, machine learning/AI, and decision support systems are utilised to make the processes “smart”.

This course aims to provide participants with an understanding on how practical i4.0 solutions can be used to transform the shop floor and manufacturing line. It will also aims to bring participants close to the line, experiencing how robotics, autonomous mobile robots (AMR) and machines can be integrated to working seamlessly. Data will be tapped out from machine for data visualisation and line optimisation.
By the end of the Course, participants will be able to:
• Describe the benefits of i4.0 and the Smart Industry Readiness Index (SIRI)
• Identify various i4.0 technologies used to digitalise the shop floor
• Describe how an integrated machining line can be automated for productivity gain
• Analyse and apply data collected for data-driven intelligence
• Apply the advanced manufacturing knowledge on solutions to implement
