This course aims to introduce both theoretical and practical aspects of Electric Vehicle (EV) chargers’ installation and maintenance in accordance with relevant regulations in Singapore. It covers an introduction to networking & protocols to allow EV chargers to be connected to the network server for large-scale commercial deployment of EV chargers. The targeted participants of this course include technicians who are working in the installation and maintenance of EV chargers, as well as Facilities Management personnel who wants to learn more about EV chargers’ deployment in buildings. 

Course Objective

The objective of this course is to equip participants with the knowledge and skills required to commission and maintain electric vehicle chargers. They will understand the role and responsibilities of a skilled person and an equipment specialist. They will also learn about all the relevant regulations (TR25:2022 Part 1 & others) related to electric vehicle chargers. Some basic theory on networking and protocols will also be covered. Lastly, to prepare for future large-scale deployment of EV chargers, the concepts of a load management system will also be introduced.

Course Outline

By the end of the Course, participants will be able to: 
1. Describe different types of Electric Vehicle chargers and it’s working principles.
2. Describe requirements for installing and maintaining Electric Vehicle chargers under relevant regulations.
3. Describe Electric Vehicle chargers’ testing requirements.
4. Describe the application of load management system on Electric Vehicle chargers.
5. Describe the internal structure of Electric Vehicle chargers.
6. Perform Electric Vehicle charger electrical testing & Electric Vehicle commissioning.
7. Describe communication network and protocols used in Electric Vehicle chargers.
8. Perform simple setup of Electric Vehicle chargers. 
9. Describe use of Open Charge Point Protocol (OCPP) in Electric Vehicle chargers.

GCE N level or equivalent.

Certification / Accreditation


Certificate of Performance (COP) is applicable for:

Course with assessment component, where participants meet at least 75% attendance rate and pass the assessment, unless otherwise stated by funding agency.

This term will be changed to Certificate of Completion (COC) after launch of Shared Training Management System (sTMS)
