4 polytechnics get $4.8m from Ngee Ann Kongsi for overseas programmes

Over 2,000 polytechnic students are set to benefit from a $4.8 million donation from Ngee Ann Kongsi to support overseas learning experiences in innovation and entrepreneurship through the Global Entrepreneurship Award (GEA). The grant will be equally distributed among Nanyang, Republic, Singapore, and Temasek polytechnics, with each institution receiving $1.2 million from June 2026 to May 2030. NP is not included, as it already receives separate funding from Ngee Ann Kongsi for its student development programmes. The GEA has previously supported more than 1,500 polytechnic students, covering a large portion of expenses for overseas trips. Recipients highlighted the programme’s impact: Nallathambi Kavya, a former RP student, received funding for a six-day Bangkok trip, while Fittra Syaifullah Fairul Nizam from TP went on a week-long study trip to Ho Chi Minh City and Hanoi. RP principal Ms Jeanne Liew noted that the donation ensures global opportunities remain accessible, even for students from less privileged backgrounds.
