4 youths design digital boardgame, teaching the elderly to spot scams
Ilzymanshah Shah, a 21-year-old alumnus of SP, shared that his 11-year-old brother has autism and struggles to communicate with their family, often resorting to gestures and sometimes becoming frustrated when unable to express his needs. He noted that their mother finds it challenging to understand his brother's communication, especially while raising six children. Ilzymanshah mentioned that his brother uses Augmentative and Alternative Communication (AAC) applications, which can be costly, often exceeding $300, and additional fees are required for specific courses or workshops. Recognising the limitations of existing AAC tools, Ilzymanshah collaborated with another brother and a friend to develop an AAC tool called @Messenger, set to launch in January. This tool not only facilitates communication but also analyses conversations to provide insights to caregivers and educators, enhancing the language learning process for children. They plan to charge only $20 annually for the service to ensure affordability for families.
