Four members of Cai Jing Ni’s family have served at United Overseas Bank (UOB) across different generations, a rare example of long-term family affiliation with one employer. Her mother, Lin Li Le (74), was among the few executive directors who spent over 40 years at the bank before retiring in 2019. Following her footsteps, Cai Jing Ni (42) is now Clementi branch manager and oversees UOB’s community spaces Hangout@UOB at NP and SP. Although her mother was a senior figure at the bank, Cai entered UOB on her own merit 14 years ago, without help from her mother. Her dedication has been recognised through multiple promotions and the UOB Way Exemplary Award in 2025. Cai sees her mother as a role model but aims to carve her own success while making her mother proud. She believes in the power of a strong corporate culture, valuing trust and resilience as guiding principles in leadership — likening her management style to “the way of water,” which adapts and perseveres despite obstacles.
