Beyond just smelling good, scents can also influence emotion and memory for users. While it may not solve stress or anxiety issues, it can create moments of comfort and familiarity. This is a trend that Joyce Lian, founder of Scent Journer and SP’s Diploma in Perfumery & Cosmetic Science alumna, has observed. She believes that “people are moving away from wearing fragrance purely for projection or external validation. There is growing interest in scents that feel personal, comforting, skin-like or emotionally reflective.”
