Clean energy workforce expected to increase by 60% in the next decade

Singapore’s clean energy workforce is set to grow by 60 per cent – or about 1,000 workers – over the next decade, driven by jobs in solar, energy storage and low-carbon electricity imports as the nation works toward net-zero emissions by 2050. To build a skilled workforce for this transition, the Energy Market Authority (EMA) is collaborating with institutes of higher learning, including NP on a revised Diploma in Electrical Engineering. Firms are also taking steps to train and upskill their workforce. For instance, Sembcorp Solar Singapore is partnering with SP to train up to 100 professionals by 2027. These initiatives aim to equip workers with emerging skills in areas such as digital system design and AI-assisted inspection of solar farms.
