Exploring different mediums: Chieu Shuey Fook's legacy exhibition at Telok Kurau Studios

After the passing of Singapore’s second-generation artist Chieu Shuey Fook, his children began sorting through the works left behind in his Telok Kurau art studio, which led to the planning of two exhibitions: "Chieu Shuey Fook: Inspiration – Sharing Innovation" and a retrospective exhibition of his legacy. Together, these exhibitions showcase over 500 pieces created by the artist from the 1960s until his passing. Chieu's son, Chieu Ee Chye, a 58-year-old part-time architecture lecturer at SP, shared in an interview: “Since February 1997, when my father became one of the first users of the Telok Kurau studio, he reported to the studio daily rain or shine. It became his second home. We lived nearby, and even a week before his passing, he was still going to the studio in his wheelchair, accompanied by a helper, to have breakfast and paint afterward.”
