More Vietnamese students are enrolling in Singapore’s higher learning institutions as families increasingly view studying in Singapore as a worthwhile long-term investment due to its strong education system, safe environment, English-speaking culture, and career opportunities. However, the high cost of living and comparatively expensive tuition fees remain significant concerns for Vietnamese students and their families. While international students can apply for Singapore’s Ministry of Education Tuition Grant — which subsidises fees in exchange for working for a Singapore-based company for at least three years after graduation — Asean students still pay much higher fees than local students. For example, at SP, Asean international students pay about S$12,400 per academic year, compared with around S$3,100 for Singaporean students. On top of tuition costs, students also need to manage Singapore’s high living expenses, including accommodation and daily necessities.
