Lost passports, freezing in the cold: Youngsters share their worst travel blunders and lessons learnt

From losing their travel documents to freezing in the cold, young people tell us their worst travel boo-boos. Alexis Phua Min Yi, a 19-year-old SP student, learned the importance of dressing for winter weather during a trip to Hokkaido. Attempting to look stylish in just a sweater and skirt over Uniqlo's Heattech thermal wear, she found herself unprepared for the intense cold. When her family waited an hour outside at night for ramen in temperatures around -5°C, she was left shivering uncontrollably. Her father had to buy her a hot drink from a nearby 7-Eleven to help warm her up. Following this chilly experience, Alexis bought gloves and a proper winter coat the next day.
