NUCD improves process of detection to treatment

The National University Hospital has launched the National University Centre for Digestive Health (NUCD) to improve early detection and treatment of digestive diseases through closer community collaboration, faster surgical referrals, and patient-centred advanced care. A key initiative under the centre is a home-based intravenous biologic treatment programme introduced in August 2024, which reduces hospital visits, lowers costs and eases bed demand. The programme has benefited 12 patients so far, including He Junhui, an SP Diploma in Cybersecurity & Digital Forensics student, who said home treatment allows him to continue his studies with fewer disruptions. NUCD aims to address commonly overlooked digestive conditions that can significantly affect overall health if not treated early.
