Vagisa Rama, the lead brewer at People People Brewing Co., left a career in the oil and gas industry to pursue his passion for craft beer. An NUS Chemical Engineering graduate, he also holds three diplomas - two from NYP and one from SP - covering Chemical and Pharmaceutical Technology, Energy and Environmental Management in the Process Industry, and Advanced Chemical Engineering. Rama spent about five years at Shell before traEnsitioning into brewing, where he found that many of the engineering principles he had learnt, such as process control, troubleshooting and equipment operations were directly applicable to beer production. He later gained experience at Archipelago Brewery, helped establish a brewery in Jakarta, and eventually joined People People Brewing Co. to oversee brewing operations at its Sentosa facility. He encourages others to pursue careers they are passionate about, noting that combining passion with a sustainable livelihood is especially rewarding.
