A group of SP students has created stackable hexagonal 3D-printed containers that can serve as home decorations and hold small potted plants, adding a touch of greenery to households. These innovative products will be available for sale at the "River Hongbao" event, at Gardens by the Bay in late January next year. The team earned this opportunity by becoming one of the four winning teams in the Mapletree x Singapore Chinese Chamber of Commerce & Industry River Hongbao Hackathon competition. Team leader Hu Zhengyang, and design lead Luo Kaiyi shared in an interview that the idea stemmed from their group members’ love for plants. “We wanted to create an easy way for people to grow potted plants at home,” said Hu. In addition to the stackable containers, the team developed an automatic watering version of the container, which is already available for pre-orders. “Although it won’t be sold during the River Hongbao event, production will begin once we secure about 100 orders,” Hu added. Luo expressed confidence in the product's reception: “We believe it will receive a great response at River Hongbao. The stackable feature will attract visitors to purchase it.”
