The Johor Bahru–Singapore Rapid Transit System (RTS) Link, which is expected to begin operations by the end of 2026, is set to greatly boost cross-border travel capacity and strengthen connectivity between the two sides. As a key component of the Johor–Singapore Special Economic Zone (JS-SEZ), the RTS has helped catalyse significant investment into Johor. While rising costs and shortages of skilled labour remain challenges, measures such as improved immigration processes and the establishment of the Invest Malaysia Facilitation Centre-Johor as a one-stop hub for businesses are intended to support the zone’s growth. To address workforce needs, partnerships are also being forged between industry and education institutions, including a collaboration between SP and the Federation of Malaysian Manufacturers to develop relevant talent for the JS-SEZ.
