SP’s Maritime students share their academic journeys and aspirations. SP Diploma in Nautical Studies student Joline Lee Rui En shares about her 12-month sea internship and how she embraces challenges and opportunities in a male-dominated field. Jolin adds that her leadership skills acquired as vice-captain of the SP’s Handball girls’ team have enhanced her maritime experiences, as it has sharpened her communication skills and enhanced her ability to manage emotions during high-stress situations. Meanwhile, SP Maritime Business student Fatin Nur Syaza shares her experiences following her prestigious Gold Medal award from the Maritime and Port Authority of Singapore (MPA). Fatin also discusses her passion for sustainability and operational efficiency in the maritime sector. Additionally, Specialist Diploma in Maritime Superintendency student Javeed Shah Halith notes that juggling work, studies, and family life demands thoughtful scheduling, as the father of two pursued his part-time studies while working. Javeed adds that adult learners can more effectively manage the demands of further education alongside family responsibilities, by creating strong familial bonds and having mutual support at home.
