SP and Vopak have signed a memorandum of understanding (MoU) to increase the knowledge of SP’s Singapore Maritime Academy (SMA) faculty members regarding proper handling of green marine fuels. “SMA will tap on Vopak’s existing expertise in the safe handling of future marine fuels, including ammonia, biofuels and methanol to design a curriculum that is tailored to equip maritime professionals with the necessary skills for a net zero future,” a joint statement read. Captain Chatur Wahyu, director of SMA, said the partnership will allow them to “develop a comprehensive training program for seafarers and maritime personnel, ensuring they possess the necessary skills and knowledge to handle these fuels safely and efficiently.” Students will be also given access to internships, technical workshops, and research collaboration in digitalisation and decarbonisation.
