Singapore Polytechnic graduate creates communication app because of younger brother's autistic condition

Ilhanshah, 11, was diagnosed with autism spectrum disorder seven years ago. Fortunately, the family of eight loves their youngest so much that his two older brothers, Ilzymanshah Kamarudin and Irhamshah Kamarudin came up with a unique app. The app functions like WhatsApp or Telegram but uses pictures and audio. The app is called @Messenger. Ilzymanshah explained to Campus Pulse that the "piece of paper" his younger brother had previously used was known as an augmentative and alternative communication (AAC) device. The SP graduate also wants Ilhanshah to learn to be independent and stay in touch with their parents when they are out and about. The app has been developed by Ilzymanshah since June under his start-up company, Assistive Technologies. Ilzymanshah's innovation has successfully received a grant of S$50,000 from EnergiSE's VentureForGood (VFG) operated by raiSE.
