SP launches AI learning app to enhance students' self-directed learning abilities

As part of its 70th anniversary celebrations, SP held a four-day International Learning Festival starting Tuesday, 24 September, focusing on "Teaching and Learning in the Age of Gen AI and Sustainability." Nearly 800 education leaders and practitioners from around 150 higher education institutions worldwide gathered to share experiences and explore how to drive educational innovation. One of the key outcomes of the event is the new generative AI application called "AskWhat, Cher?". This SP-developed app uses surveys and chatbot features to help students reflect on their learning after each class. Based on their responses, the system evaluates whether students have met the learning objectives and assists lecturers in identifying potential learning challenges. Additionally, the chatbot helps students review and clarify their doubts, further enhancing learning outcomes. Jasmine Tan, a teaching and learning specialist from SP’s School of Life Skills & Communication, said that the app was developed to help students solve problems they encounter during post-class revision while cultivating self-directed learning and reflection skills.
