Broadcast on the difference between physical and chemical sunscreens discussed how they protect us from UVA and UVB rays in different ways. SP's School of Chemical & Life Sciences Lecturer Heng Jun Jie shared that physical sunscreens reflect the harmful rays from our skin after application, whilst chemical sunscreens react with the rays to dispel and diminish the heat. He added that the list of inactive ingredients in the products, whilst important, does not do anything to protect our skin from sun damage. Jun Jie concluded that the active and inactive ingredients need to work together.
